  1. Preliminary Test will be of Objective type and this will be qualifying in nature.
  2. While applying for preliminary test candidates have to select one optional subject for Mains examination.
  3. Selected subject could not be changed there after. So, Please be attentive while applying.
  4. After passing the prelim exam candidate has to apply for main examination with application fees.

  • Candidates have to qualify in General Hindi and qualifying marks will be 30%.
  • The score for merit will be calculated by considering the total of 900 marks in GS Paper 1, GS Paper 2 and Optional Paper
  • candidates who are placed suitably in the merit are called for the interview.
Interview
  • The candidates who qualify the BPSC Main Exam are called for the final stage of the exam i.e. Interview. The interview carries 120 marks.
  • The final merit list will be prepared out of 1020 marks (900 for Mains + 120 for Interview). 
  • Interview judges the personality aspect of the candidates. The members of the Interview Board want to know the administrative aptitude and decision making ability of the candidates through interview.
  • After the interviews, final BPSC 65th CCE Merit List will be prepared.

PRELIMINARY TEST

COMPULSORY SUBJECT : GENERAL STUDIES

The paper on General Studies will include questions covering the following fields of knowledge:-

1. General Science

Questions on General Science will cover general appreciation and under-standing of science, including matters of everyday observation and experience, as may be expected of a well educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.

2. Current events of national and international importance. History of India and salient features of the history of Bihar.

In History, emphasis will be on broad general under-standing of the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. The candidates are expected to be familiar with the broad aspects of the history of Bihar.

3. General Geography and geographical division of Bihar and its major river systems.

In Geography, emphasis will be on geography of India and Bihar. Questions on the Geography of India and Bihar will relate to physical, social and economic Geography of the country including the main features of Indian agricultural and natural resources.

4. Indian Polity and Economy and major changes in the economy of Bihar in the post independence period.

Questions of Indian Polity and Economy will test knowledge on the country’s political system, panchayati raj, community development and planning in India and Bihar.

5. Indian National Movement and the part played by Bihar in it. Questions on General Mental Ability.

Question on the Indian National Movement will relate to the nature and character of the nineteenth century resurgence, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence and candidates will be expected to answer questions on the role of Bihar in the freedom movement of India.

MAIN EXAMINATION

COMPULSORY PAPER: 01- GENERAL HINDI (सामान्य हिन्दी)

इस पत्र में प्रश्न बिहार विद्यालय परीक्षा समिति के माध्यमिक (सेकेण्डरी) स्तर के होंगे। इस परीक्षा में सरल हिंदी में अपने भावों को स्पष्टत: एवं शुद्ध-शुद्ध रूप में व्यक्त करने की क्षमता और सहज बोध शक्ति की जाँच समझी जायेगी।

अंकों का विवरण निम्न प्रकार होगा:–

  • निबन्ध – 30 अंक
  • व्याकरण – 30 अंक
  • वाक्य विन्यास – 25 अंक
  • संक्षेपण – 45 अंक
02 GENERAL STUDIES: PAPER- I
1. Modern History of India and Indian culture.

In paper-I, Modern History of India and Indian Culture will cover the broad history of the country (with special reference to Bihar) from about the middle of nineteenth century.

The modern history of Bihar will include questions on the introduction and expansion of western education (including technical education).

It will also have questions on Bihar’s role in the freedom struggle of India. Questions will relate to the Santhal Uprising, 1857 in Bihar, Birsa movement, Champaran Satyagrah and the Quit India Movement 1942.

A knowledge of the chief features of Mauryan and Pal art and Patna Qulam painting will be expected from the examinees. It would also include questions or Gandhi, Tagore and Nehru.

2. Current events of national and international importance.
3. Statistical analysis, graphs and diagrams.

The part relating to statistical analysis, graphs and diagrams will include exercises to test the candidate’s ability to draw common sense conclusions from information presented in statistical, graphical or diagrammatically form and to point out deficiencies, limitations or inconsistencies therein.

03. GENERAL STUDIES: PAPER- II
1. Indian Polity:

In Paper II, the part relating to Indian Polity, will include questions on the political system in India including Bihar

2. Indian economy and Geography of India; and

In the part pertaining to the Indian Economy and Geography of India, questions will be put on planning in India and the physical, economic and social geography of India and Bihar.

3. The role and impact of science and technology in the development of India.

In the third part relating to the role and impact of science and technology in the development of India, questions will be asked to test the candidate’s awareness of the role and impact of science and technology in India and Bihar Emphasis will be on applied aspects.
