SSC MTS 2019: The Staff Selection Commission has released the official notification for the recruitment of Multi Tasking Staff, a General Central Service Group “C‟ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post. The candidates selected through SSC MTS examination will be posted in different Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India in various States/ UTS.

The number of vacancies is not determined yet, but the official notice has mentioned that updated vacancies will be uploaded on the official website from time to time (https://ssc.nic.in->Candidate‟s Corner-> Tentative Vacancy).

Important Notice: Till date, about 25 lakh candidates have already applied for the SSC MTS post. Candidates are hereby advised, in their own interest, to submit their online applications much before the closing date, and not to wait till the last date i.e. 29-05-2019 as there may be heavy traffic on the servers during the last days for submission of the applications.

SSC MTS 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Education Qualifications: The candidates must have passed Matriculation Examination or equivalent from a recognized Board. Candidates who have not yet acquired but will acquire the educational qualification and produce documentary evidence from the Board in support thereof as on 01-08-2019 are also eligible.

Age: The age limits for the posts as per the Recruitment Rules of various User Departments are:

  1. 18-25 years as on 01-08-2019 (i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1994 and not later than 01-08-2001).
  2. 18-27 years as on 01-08-2019 (i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1992 and not later than 01-08-2001).

Note:- Relaxation in age for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, PwBD, ExSM will be applicable as per the government norms.

Candidates seeking age relaxation are required to submit copies of necessary certificate(s) at the time of document verification.

Nationality:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India or belong to Bhutan or Nepal.
  • Tibetan refugee who came over to India, with the intention of permanently settling in India before January 1, 1962, are eligible to apply
  • Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India can apply for this examination.

SSC MTS 2019 Application Fee

The application fee for different categories are as follows:

General and OBC Rs 100/-
Women /SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Servicemen No Fee

Note: Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards or through cash in SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.

SSC MTS 2019 How to Apply

The process of filling online application for the examination consists of two parts:  

  1. One-time Registration.
  2. Filling online Application for the Examination

1. One-time Registration:

  1. For One-time Registration, click on “Register Now‟ link provided in “Login‟ Section on https://ssc.nic.in
  2. You need to fill up the following information:
    Basic Details
    Additional Details and Contact Details
    Uploading of the scanned images of passport size photograph and signature.
  3. In basic data tab, Few critical details will be asked like: Aadhaar Number, name, father‟s name, mother‟s name, date of birth, matriculation exam details, highest qualification, email ID, etc.
  4. You have to complete the Registration Process within 14 days failing which your Registration Details saved so far will be deleted.
  5. Fill the appropriate information about your Category, Nationality, disability (if any), etc.
  6. Provide information about your Permanent and Present Address and Save the data.
  7. Upload your recent Photo and Signature and save the information.
  8. Upon clicking “Final Submit‟ different OTPs will be sent on your mobile number and Email ID. You need to enter one of the two OTPs at the designated field to complete the Registration Process.

2. Steps for filling SSC MTS 2019 Online Application Form:

  1. Log in to the online system through your “Registration Number‟ and password.
  2. Click on the “Apply‟ link in Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination 2019 Section under the “Others‟ tab.
  3. Enter the required details like the preference for Examination Centers, preferences for the States/ Uts, highest qualification, age relaxation category, etc.
  4. Complete your declaration by clicking on “I agree” checkbox and fill up captcha code.
  5. Preview and verify the information and click on “Submit”.
  6. Make fee payment if you are not exempted from payment of the fee.
  7. Download your SSC MTS Application Form and take printouts for future reference.

SSC MTS 2019 Exam Pattern

The examination will consist of a Computer Based Examination (Paper-I) and a Descriptive Paper (Paper-II).

Paper-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Paper-II will be of the descriptive type in which the candidate will be required to write a short essay or letter in English or any language included in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution.

This will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills in view of categorization of the post.

SSC MTS 2019 Syllabus

Syllabus for Computer Based Examination (Paper-I):

English Language: Candidates’ understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, and its correct usage, etc. and writing ability would be tested.

General Intelligence and Reasoning: It would include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate‟s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation, and other analytical functions.

Numerical Aptitude: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability, there will be no component of Maps/ Graphs/ Diagrams/ Statistical Data in the Paper.

Paper-II: The Paper will be set in Hindi, English and in other languages mentioned in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution, to test basic language skills commensurate with the educational qualification prescribed for the post. Candidates will be required to write one short essay/ letter.


SSC MTS 2019 Selection Procedure

SSC MTS Selection process will be purely on merit basis. Candidates will be selected on the basis of the marks scored in CBT paper I whereas Paper II will be qualifying in nature. 

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Paper-II on the basis of their performance in Paper-I. Normalized scores of the candidates will be used to determine merit in Paper-I.
  • There will be separate category-wise, State/ UT-wise cut-offs in Paper-I.
  • Paper-II will be qualifying in nature. Qualifying marks in Paper-II will be 40% for unreserved category and 35% for all reserved category candidates.
  • Marks scored by the candidates in Paper-II will be used to decide merit in case more than one candidate score equal normalized marks in Paper-I.
  • As the vacancies for MTS are in two age groups i.e. (i) 18 to 25 years and (ii) 18 to 27 years, in the final result, there will be separate age group-wise, State/ UT-wise, and category-wise cutoffs. For the candidates who are eligible for both the age-groups, vacancies will first be filled in the age-group of 18-25 years.
  • Based on the performance in Paper-I and scoring the cut-off marks in Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in the Document Verification to check their eligibility.
